Endodontic (root canal) treatment and retreatment

Endodontic (root canal) treatment
This procedure is performed when the pulp – the tooth tissue containing the nerves, blood vessels and lymphatic vessels – is damaged. An inflammation begins when bacteria reach the pulp after deep tooth caries or dental trauma has occurred.

During this treatment, chemomechanical cleaning of the root canal is performed with manual and/or rotary endodontic instruments, disinfection solutions are used and a special material is used to fill in the root canal. The duration of the endodontic treatment/retreatment varies according to the individual clinical situation, and depends on the diagnosis and the difficulty of the clinical case. It is very important to rebuild the tooth crown properly after this treatment, in order to protect the root canal system from reinfections and root fractures.

Endodontically treated teeth must be observed throughout your prophylaxis.
